About us

Hauturu School is a small isolated rural primary school established in 1918 making it 100 years old in 2018. It is a school committed to providing quality education for Year 1 to Year 8 students. Hauturu School has a stable history of two-teacher employment. We have three classrooms including a multi-purpose space that has an Administration and Principal’s offices attached.

For parents of New Entrant Students who wish to use the opportunity to positively transition children from home or pre-school to school, we are available through consultation to meet the needs of your child.

The school participates actively in the Kawhia Moana Cluster Group, which shares responsibility for organising inter-school sports events such as swimming, cross-country and athletics. These activities take place termly, we value these ties with surrounding schools for sporting and cultural visits, as this provides the students with many opportunities to meet wider school communities.

Students travel to school in a variety of ways, these include buses and private vehicles. Please come in and discuss your eligibility for a bus or travel allowance.

Clubs are available for school-aged children; these include rugby (Coast and Pirongia), Netball (Pirongia), Basketball (Te Awamutu Tigers). Outdoor features include tarmac court, a swimming pool, an adventure playground, a sandpit, vegetable gardens, native bush and shade trees.
